Back to uni
So have been back at uni for 2 days now - not too bad, but am buggered. Having to use the brain again and getting up earlier (especially getting up extra early to go swimming). Four hours of sleep is really not enough if you are going to be active the next day.
And then there is the UQ union diary that lists all the important days that we will need to commemorate this year:
21st March:
National Harmony Day and
International day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
(Isn't it a bit presumptous to celebrate national harmony day if we havent eliminated racism yet, they could have left a week or so for some elimination to occur!)
6th May:
International No Diet Day
Woohoo
26th May:
National sorry day
3rd June:
Mabo Day (Who the hell is Mabo?)
8th August:
Abortion Rights Day
13th August:
Ekka Day :)
1st September:
Body-image and eating disorder awareness week
8th September:
Queer Fest UQ
23rd September
International celebrate bisexuality day Tori thought it said international celebate bisexuality day.
October
Mental health awareness month and
Sexual violence awareness month (need to be very aware in
October!!!)
8th October
International Lesbian Day
11th October
National coming out day - anyone see a problem here, how
can you celebrate Lesbian Day if you haven't had a chance
to come out yet?
4th November:
Melbourne Cup Day
16th November:
International Day of Tolerance
20th November:
International Trans-gender day of rememberance.
"Memorising those lost to anti transgender hate crimes" Yes those are exactly the words in the diary!
25th November - December 10th
16 days of activism on gender violence.
What a lot we have we have to look forward to in the coming months, see you all at the memorising ceremony on the 20th of November!!!
